Cindy Lowley- Patrick- Interim Manager

At the LBNT office we have been busy working on the Treaty Relate Measures Project (TRM) which is focusing on lands work- Land Use Planning (LUP). We are fortunate to have John Munro and George Nicholson working along side us on this project. To date- we have visited Vancouver Phase 1 and 2, Smithers Phase 1 and Prince George Phase 1. In Phase 1 we introduce the project and objectives and in Phase 2 we start working with the maps. We have yet to visit the other communities but will happen in the next few weeks. This project is scheduled to go until March 31 2015.
We have been working with the UNBC and UBC for training and workshops which are part of grants acquired by the LBNT and enhance the staff's professional development. The UBC Digitization Training was wonderful and the researchers have a lot of positive reporting to share on that.
We are hosting the Treaty Youth Forum in June which has involved much time and planning by multiple people. In all our meetings the main request is to tend to the youth more frequently and this Youth Forum is a starting point to those requests. The youth will have the opportunity to be addressed by the leadership, the mayor as well key departments from the LBN. The LBNT will work with the youth on the last day of the forum to begin producing a movie/ script based on lands and treaty. This is going to be a wonderful production which will be shown to the community once it has been produced in a few months. So I would encourage the youth to come out on June 10th to the treaty office to begin this process and be ready for the youth forum- only those youth that show up will be a part of it. A reminder to the youth and parents to get registered and hand in your registrations to the treaty office.
I attended meetings pertaining to the Tripartite as well as our UNBC Protocol Agreement. Other meetings included AANDC for reporting purposes as well as with BCTC.
This is part of the regular operational activities.
The LBNT is comprised of many levels as well as many projects which the LBNT staff are responsible for such as the research for the Specific Claims which takes place in the form of interviews, archives, mapping, genealogy and visiting other organizations like the BC Union of Chiefs (for example).
There is much work taking place under the treaty umbrella for which I encourage you to come in and ask about.
I would like to take the time to express my appreciation to the LBN leadership, Admin and the LBNT staff for their dedication and hard work  to all the programs as well as to my position as success comes best in team work efforts. I look forward to continuing on with the members and the LBN in general. Have a wonderful month of June and be safe.
