Marvin Williams - Indigenous Planning Facilitator

Community meetings: We had a treaty meeting in Vancouver on May 31 - June 1, 2014.  We also met with the LBN members in Smithers on June 22, 2014.  In these meetings we had the members work with John Munro and George Nicholson, John and George are helping us with the Treaty Related Measures (TRM).  This allows our members to have an input on the Land Use Plan. John had work maps out and the members are able to draw and write on these maps, on what they want in the future, and George was always on hand in case the members had any legal questions.

UNBC: We (treaty staff) were at the UNBC along with the Chief and Council and the LBN Managers, we learned about the treaty process. The Aboriginal Rights and Aboriginal Title was the topic on day one, we learned about the chapters on day two. I am happy to have had this session, the course was very informative for all that participated.

Youth Forum: We held a youth Forum on June 24, 25, 26, 2014. We had LBN youth from Smithers, Tachet and Woyenne. This is our first Youth Forum and we are hoping to improve the attendance in the future, our goal is to show the youth how important that they are for our future.

We are always trying our best to reach out to all members of the Lake Babine Nation, making sure that each and every member know that their input matters to us, whether you are elders or you are the youth of the Lake Babine Nation- you are important.  This concludes my report, thank you very much for your time. God Bless you all.
